If you are looking for a vision practice where you can receive an excellent comprehensive eye exam, we hope you will make an appointment to see our eye doctor at our Eye Institute of Essex. At our center, our patients can be seen by our Belleville ophthalmologists who are Dr. Philip N. Eichler, Dr. Joel D. Eichler, and Dr. Dominick Benedetto.

Our patients are able to get comprehensive eye exams, and receive treatment for just about any type of eye problem, should one be diagnosed. We provide regular eye exams for both children and adults. During our eye exams you will have a vision check, an eye pressure check, a slit lamp examination, a dilated eye exam, and a refraction test for glasses and contact lenses. There will also be other types of computerized tests to make sure your eyes are in excellent health. Among the many different eye diseases that your eyes will be screened for are: glaucoma; macular degeneration; diabetic retinopathy; cataracts; dry eyes; retinal tears; and other problems of the cornea, macula, and retina. It is very important that you have these eye exams on a regular basis to make sure that any eye diseases are caught early. For example, glaucoma shows no symptoms in the early stages. However, if left undiagnosed, glaucoma can advance to the point where optic nerve damage occurs. At this stage, it will be extremely difficult or impossible to correct vision damage. But, our Belleville ophthalmologists will be able to treat this disease if caught in the early stages during an exam, and prevent any vision damage from occurring. During your vision exam, our ophthalmologist will also screen your eyes for any type of refractive errors. If you are found to be nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism, our eye doctor will also be able to provide you with a prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses, which will have you seeing clearly again. Today, just about all patients are able to wear contact lenses to have their vision corrected, if desired.
