If you have cataracts, or think you may be developing them, you should make our Eye Institute of Essex your trusted vision practice. At our office, our 07109 optometrist can diagnose and monitor the progression of your cataracts, or you can receive comprehensive cataract surgery.
At our practice, we have several expert eye surgeons on staff including Dr. Philip N. Eichler. Our top-notch, 07109 optometrist is Dr. Kyle Bensinger. If your vision has become clouded, and you have problems driving at night or seeing clearly when you watch television, you may have cataracts. If you have cataracts, it means that the natural lens of your eye has become clouded. Cataracts can be easily diagnosed during a comprehensive eye exam at our vision practice. Most cataracts will go on to cause blindness if allowed to progress. However, it is impossible for anyone to really determine how long it will take for the cataracts to progress to this point, and even if they will indeed progress this far. Some patients choose to have periodic lens changes made to their eyeglasses which will enable them to keep seeing clearly. However, at some point, our optometrist or ophthalmologist will determine that it is definitely time for you to have cataract surgery. At this point, one of our expert eye surgeons will be able to perform cataract surgery for you. Cataract surgery is performed using a laser. It is an extremely and reliable procedure during which your damaged natural lens is removed from your eye through a tiny incision cut by the laser, and a permanent clear lens is inserted in its place through the same incision. This surgery is performed on an outpatient basis and takes a very short amount of time to perform, and to recover from.
